Class Offerings
From the young ballerina to the professional level performer, Ballet Arts of Bucks County provides a diverse set of classes to complement a dancer’s skills and talents.
Pre-ballet (ages 3-5)
Students are prepared for classical ballet technique. Exercises increase coordination, flexibility and musical awareness. Classes explore many topics including music, movement concepts and class etiquette. Classes are an hour long and meet once a week. We recommend that all students between ages of 3 and 5 who are new to the studio should begin with Pre-ballet.
Kinderballet
This class continues focusing on preparatory exercises, building upon the material taught in Pre-ballet. Classes meet once a week for an hour. Students should have completed our pre-ballet class or equivalent before joining this class.
Primary Ballet
Students continue building upon material covered in pre and kinder ballet. Classes meet once a week for an hour. Students should have completed either pre-ballet or kinderballet before joining this class.
Basic Ballet (Age 7 and up)
For ages 7 and up with little or no experience. Classes focus on correct placement, musical concepts and beginner level technique. Classes consist of barre work, center work and traveling steps. Classes are an hour to an hour and a half long, meeting 1 to 3 times weekly.
Intermediate Ballet 1 and 2
The entire traditional class format is established in these levels. Students’ vocabulary increases as more material is added. Steps are practiced in simple combinations increasing in complexity as students develop their skills in linking steps together.
Students should take 2 to 5 hour and a half-long classes weekly in the intermediate levels.
Students should have full understanding of material covered in Basic Ballet
Advanced Ballet 1 and 2
Students work with an in depth knowledge of the technique. Classes focus on continuing to strengthen and working with precision and artistry.
Students should be taking 4 to 8 hour and a half-long classes weekly.
Students should have full understanding of material covered in Intermediate levels.
IN ORDER TO FULFILL WEEKLY CLASS RECOMMENDATIONS, STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO TAKE LOWER LEVEL CLASSES IN ADDITION TO THEIR OWN LEVEL!
Pointe and Variations
By teacher recommendation only, classes are an hour long and should be taken 1 to 3 times weekly in conjunction with a minimum of 3 technique classes weekly.
